A colostomy bag, also known as a stoma bag or ostomy pouch, is a medical device used to collect fecal waste (stool) from the body in individuals who have undergone a colostomy procedure. A colostomy creates a surgical opening in the abdomen, called a stoma, to divert the colon (large intestine) to the outside of the body. The bag is then attached to the abdomen over the stoma to collect the stool.
